Remembrance Sunday
(2nd Sunday in November, every year at 11 O'Clock)
Armistice Day originally marked the end of World War I, commemorating the armistice signed on 11 November 1918. It was first observed in 1919 to honour those who died in that conflict.
Remembrance Day, adopted more widely after World War II, expanded the focus to include all military personnel who died in subsequent wars and conflicts. While it still falls on 11 November, the name change reflects a broader commemoration beyond just WWI.
In the UK, Remembrance Sunday, is held on the second Sunday of November, complements Remembrance Day with national services and wreath-laying ceremonies.
